The Garforth Junior football league now offers a friendly league for both U7 and U8s – no results are collected (under FA rules this is not allowed) and therefore no league tables are produced.
So, you might be thinking, why should I enter a friendly league ?
First and foremost it makes your life easier !
Ask any manager who started out years ago how they got their list of contacts and arranged their games and I’m sure they will tell you by spending a lot of time and money on phone calls ringing round the various clubs trying to find out who was running a team at their age group, then trying to find a mutual free date to organise a game.
In a friendly league all the manager’s details are given to the league and the league issues the contact details of all the registered managers to all the other managers PLUS we set up your fixtures.
I can hear you asking, so what the catch ? There must be a charge !!
There is no catch and it’s absolutely FREE to register a team in the friendly league at U7 and U8s
So why would the league do this totally FREE ?
We want to get more children playing football but also we hope that you will stay with the Garforth League and move up through the age groups. Under a new agreement next season (2011/12) we will be extending to U15s and hopefully each season we can extend that further until we reach U18s … so by joining us at U7s we hope you’ll stay with us right through to U18s

U7 League sounds great. When will we know if we have the numbers to go ahead?
Both the U7 and U8 friendly league will definately go ahead during the 2010/11 season.
