Dear Team Manager/Club Secretary,
I hope that your club and team will be re-joining or consider joining the Garforth Junior Football League for the 2011/2012 season.

The Garforth Junior Football League, can offer progression from Under 7’s through to Under 15’s from the 2011/2012 season and through to Under 16’s (subject to WRCFA sanction) from 2012-2013 season.

Entry fee is £40 per team for 11-a-side and 2-squad Mini-Soccer; £20 per team 1-squad Mini-Soccer.  Currently no subscription fee for Under 7 & Under 8 Friendly Leagues.   These fees are subject to confirmation at the annual AGM in July. There is a further one-off £10 deposit per club.

The GJFL is an accredited FA Charter Standard League.  We were the first league within the WRCFA to attain this status and accordingly Clubs entering the GJFL should be Charter Standard registered although new clubs without have 12 months in which to obtain the necessary certificate.

All leagues and clubs with youth teams must have appointed a named Welfare Officer, who has an ‘accepted’ CRB check via The FA CRB Unit and who has attended a Welfare Officers Workshop (commonly known as WOW).

As a League we also uphold the Respect programme and it is a rule that the home team provides a suitable spectator barrier and safety zone (can be cones if necessary).   Once again the GJFL was one of the first leagues in the country to introduce spectator barriers back in 2004 and the company that piloted them is now the sole provider of barriers to The FA.   Similarly, the GJFL has this season piloted the FA sponsored Touchline Manager programme with half of our clubs although a decision whether to continue in 2011/2012 season has yet to be made.   To a large degree this will depend on The FA and whether it is prepared to support the GJFL.   It is a further requirement that an adult representative with the necessary CRB checks is present throughout every match played by the club and that a member of the coaching team for each age group has achieved the Level 1 Training Certificate.

Maximum Player registrations (at any one time) are 20 for 11-a-side – 24 for 2-squad Mini-Soccer – 14 for 1-squad Mini-Soccer. The cost of the first 20 ID cards per team is included in the Entry Fee thereafter 25p per card.

Each age group has its’ own dedicated Divisional Secretary who will arrange all fixtures and take results (as well as any queries) and is the main contact for each team manager.

Pre-season meetings are held for each age group when fixtures and team contacts will be issued as well as giving everyone the opportunity to meet each other.  These are normally at the end of August or first week of September.

As a League we currently hold 3 all club meetings throughout the season (September, December and/or January, March).   There may on occasions be special meetings held to discuss a particular promotion or new venture.   All meetings are held at Ossett Town AFC which is the League’s Headquarters.

We hold a Challenge Cup competition for all teams in the Under 9 to Under 15 age groups and a Supplementary Cup competition for all teams except the quarter-finalists in the Under 11 to Under 15 age groups.
Subject to the fixture programme Divisional Secretaries may organise a League Cup in the latter half of the season for some of the lower division clubs in their age group.   There are no entry fees for the cup competitions.
In the past 2 seasons we have secured the main stadium pitches at Garforth Town, Tadcaster Albion and Farsley Celtic for our 11-a-side Challenge & Supplementary Cup semi-finals.   Traditionally the Cup Finals are held at Ossett Town AFC.  This season Wakefield City hosted our Mini-Soccer Challenge Cup finals.

We believe that we have a greater in depth standard of football throughout every age group than most other junior leagues and this is highlighted by the success of our clubs involved in external cup competitions.    This season we have provided the winners of the West Riding County FA Junior Shield U12 & Junior Trophy U14 in Shadwell United and Wigton Moor.   Wortley FC Juniors were also the finalists in the Trophy final and this team were winners of the Leeds & District Millennium Cup last season as Under 13s.   Churwell Lions Under 13 have just won the Heavy Woollen District FA’s Secker Cup and Collingham Juniors and Aberford Albion will be contesting Barkston Ash FA cup finals at Under 12 and Under 14.   Finally, and by no means least, the GJFL has provided the finalists for the Leeds & District FA’s Under 13 Millennium Cup in Carlton Athletic and Pontefract St.Josephs.

It is not our policy to put new clubs/teams into the lowest division but to place them in a division with teams of more or less equal ability.  Obviously some teams will perform better than others but we try as best as possible to create a fair and competitive environment.
