Garforth League Achieve Charter League Status

The Garforth Junior League has become the first league in West Riding to achieve the FA Charter Standard league award.
The award duly commends and assesses leagues that provide safe and enjoyable football against a standard set of criteria along with the ongoing development of a League Development Plan as part of an annual health check process.
Andrew Wadsworth, Football Development Manager at West Riding CFA, said: “I am delighted that Garforth Junior Football League has achieved this award, it’s testament to the hard work and to raising standards within the league.”
He added: “We are also extremely proud that the league has become the first league nationally to achieve the award outside the initial pilot programme.”
The award also means that the league will be in a fantastic position to keep developing with the help of the staff at West Riding CFA.
Andrew Shuttleworth, Senior Football Development Officer at West Riding CFA, said: “To attain The FA Charter Standard League award is a fantastic achievement and is the culmination of many years hard work by the management Committee and member clubs of the Garforth Junior Football League.”
He added: “The league should be congratulated for their forward thinking and positive attitudes towards the development of junior football in the area.”
All clubs within the league have had to become Charter Standard clubs and amongst other things, must have in place; a club Welfare Officer, a Child Protection Policy, all volunteers to have CRB checks, managers and coaches with appropriate coaching, Safeguarding Children and Emergency Aid qualifications.
Delighted with the award, John Bleakley, Charter Standard League Coordinator and Football development Officer of the league said: “The Garforth Junior Football League is honoured to be the first league in the County and amongst the first in England to achieve the award.”
He added: “It’s a reflection of the hard work and dedication of both the Management Committee and member clubs over the last few years.”
