Here’s a quick line from one of the League’s referees regarding Respect Supervisors – we thought it might be worth sharing this with everyone…
“I would like to give praise to the Garforth League for its implementation of the Touchline Managers,
I refereed a Under 12′s fixture this past weekend between Leeds City and Ossett town in 12A League, not only were both teams and spectators very welcoming and friendly to me when i arrived, but their attitudes throughout the game allowed myself as a referee to enjoy the game but also allow the players to enjoy and compete at a high standard of football in a very positive environment.
This positive environment was without doubt created through the use of touchline managers and the RESPECT spectator barriers, and for the first time in my 6 years refereeing i was applauded off the field at the end of the game by both sets of spectators, i am also in no doubt that this positive environment allowed the players to enjoy and compete to a high standard in what was a thrilling 1-1 draw.
The programme can achieve what some thought impossible, a more positive relationship between referee and spectators, i congratulate Leeds city and Osset Town for their efforts implementing the programme.”
