North East Leeds Awarded County and Regional Charter Std Development Club of the Year

wrcfapic1North East Leeds JFC formed two years ago and since then has progressed to running fourteen teams from U8s to open age.

The club caters for a variety of youngsters, providing them quality coaching, sponsored kits and a safe enjoyable atmosphere to play the sport they love.

Having achieved FA Charter Standard status before the start of last season, the club continued to take positive steps by achieving Charter Standard Development Club status not long after.

Wortley JFC Receive Award From Football Foundation

Wortley Football Club, Leeds was celebrating today following a grant of £6428 awarded by the Football Foundation, the UK’s largest sports charity.

The cash bonanza will allow Wortley Football Club to launch a series of projects in conjunction with the primary schools in the West Leeds area to encourage Reception and Year 1 pupils to become actively involved in football. The project will create a new Under 7’s mixed football team for the next three years and will also support the recruitment and development of parents/volunteers who will attend courses to achieve recognised qualifications to become qualified FA Level football coaches/referees which will be required to support the newly developed teams.

The Football Foundation is dedicated to revitalising the grass roots of the game, constructing modern football facilities, developing football as a force for social cohesion and as a vehicle for education in communities throughout the country. Funded by the Premier League, The Football Association and the Government, the Football Foundation is the nation’s largest sports charity with a £40m budget going straight into the heart of football.

Paul Thorogood, Chief Executive of the Football Foundation said: “We warmly congratulate the club and the West Riding County FA for their hard work and dedication in securing this award.

“Sport is playing a central role in helping people to stay fit, strengthen communities and promote responsibility amongst young people. It is thanks to the funding from our partners the Premier League, The FA and Government that the Football Foundation exists to support this type of excellent project in Wortley, Leeds.”

Roy Kearsley, General Secretary at Wortley Football Club said: “With the much needed help of the Football Foundation the club can continue to develop its Junior Boys and Girls section and give young children a taste of being part of a well respected and established community football club and at the same time experience what grassroots football is all about”. Our community support is focused on young people, working with partners to signpost children to the club and giving them the best possible opportunity to have a positive experience in life.

The cheque presentation took place at Whingate Primary School, Whingate Road, Armley, Leeds, LS12 3DS on Friday 19th June 2009 at 14.00hrs. In attendance was Roy Kearsley, General Secretary of Wortley Football Club,. Leeds West MP John Battle and Polly Fildes from the West Riding County FA

Bramley Pheonix Achieve FA Charter Standard

Bramley Phoenix JFC are the latest club to receive FA Charter Standard status.

Club Chairman Darren Wood had this to say about the award; “We have worked very hard to achieve this award, we have a dedicated bunch of qualified Coaches who give up so much time to coach in excess of 150 children per week.  We play an integral part in the local communities and offer a safe and friendly environment for children to play football, we will continue to maintain these high standards both on and off the pitch.

The award comes at the end of a very successful season for Bramley Phoenix with 3 age groups winning their respective leagues”  Bramley Phoenix have teams in the Garforth, Keybury and Huddersfield Leagues.

Garforth Rangers Achieve Charter Standard

garforth-rangers-newGarforth Rangers AFC have now achieved Charter Standard Community Club status.

The club first achieved Development Club status back in 2002, making them one of the region’s first Charter Standard Junior Clubs. They now run 3 open age sides in the Wakefield League, Selby League and the newly formed WRCFA U21 Floodlit League.

South Leeds Saints Achieve Charter Standard

southleedssaints01-thumb-463375jpgSouth Leeds Saints are based in Middleton and play all home games behind the leisure centre. The club achieved Charter Standard status in summer 2008 after dedicated coaches and parents sought to improve at all levels, providing a better environment for children to enjoy their football.

Many thanks go to Dave Plumb who devoted much of his own time to ensure the club attained the award.

Development is ongoing at the club with a planned revamp of the club’s facilities. At junior level South Leeds Saints are represented in the Garforth and Charles Rice leagues, with the seniors in the Leeds Red Triangle.
